Since its inception Secor Strategies has provided
services for the following programs:
Florida Governor’s School for Space Science and Technology
Florida Institute of Technology contracted with Secor Strategies to coordinate the 2009 Florida Governor’s School for Space Science and Technology. This program selected 18 gifted students from across Florida to participate in a comprehensive two week residential academy. Secor Strategies oversaw the marketing plan, application process, scheduling, and overall logistics. It also provided daily on-site management services ensuring students had access to Kennedy Space Center tours, shuttle launch STS-107, course instructors, and several different educational activities.
NASA Minority Innovation Challenges Institute
Secor Strategies partnered with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) to draft a proposal to NASA for the creation of the Minority Innovation Challenges Institute (MICI). A total of 39 competing proposals were submitted and MICI was one of only 5 proposals selected for funding. This $1.05 million project works to educate minority undergraduate students about NASA’s technical competitions and spur their participation in them. Secor Strategies oversees the marketing efforts, collection of metrics, scheduling of speakers, and operation of the year-round virtual conference platform used to provide content to students.
NASA Astronaut Glove Challenge
Secor Strategies sponsored the 2009 NASA Astronaut Glove Challenge. The annual contest seeks to engage small businesses, students, and inventors in designing an astronaut glove that is both more flexible and more durable. A total of $350,000 was awarded to the 2009 contest winners. In addition to being a sponsor, Secor Strategies provided services which included securing the event location, interfacing with local media, and on-site coordination at the event. Paul Secor also acted as a judge for the competition.
Florida Advanced Combustion Center
Florida Institute of Technology has contracted with Secor Strategies to perform a detailed market research study related to establishing a Combustion Center within the state. Secor Strategies is identifying potential customers and interviewing them about their projected needs.
National Science Foundation Day – Central Florida
Secor Strategies is coordinating the 2010 National Science Foundation (NSF) Day which is scheduled to take place on March 9, 2010 at the Florida Institute of Technology. This day long program will educate universities across Central Florida about grant opportunities available from NSF and provide them with tips and advice in regards to submitting proposals.

Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program
Paul Secor served as the Director of the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) for more than 8 years. Under his tenure, this annual $3 million NASA funded program provided technical assistance to more than 2,500 small business across the United States. Mary Baker also served as a program coordinator for SATOP during this same time period.
Defense Commercialization Assistance Program
This $1.6 million program funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) worked to help companies in FL and NY that had received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research Grant (SBIR) commercialize their technologies. Paul Secor developed the Scope of Work for this project and oversaw its implementation.
NASA Alliance for Small Business Opportunities
Paul Secor established a partnership with Georgia Tech and five other business incubators to expand the existing NASA Alliance for Small Business Opportunities (NASBO) program. The expansion enabled the group to provide grants and assistance to companies that received a NASA Small Business Innovation Research Grant (SBIR). The purpose of the program was to help these small businesses commercialize their technologies.
Florida Disabled Veteran Business Initiative
Paul Secor wrote a winning proposal to the National Veteran’s Corporation which established the Florida Disabled Veteran Business Initiative. Under this program, Mary Baker initiated personal contact to hundreds of service disabled veteran businesses in Florida to get them registered in the State of Florida’s procurement database. The goal was to increase the number of service disabled veteran businesses receiving contracts.
H1B Training Program
Paul Secor assisted the Manufacturing Extension Partnership in providing advanced technical training to American workers under a grant from the Department of Labor. The project focused on assisting local companies in central Florida.
